Book Review: September 2024
4 books this month, including one total mind bender, 2 personal development and 1 biography. A nice variety, right?
What books are you enjoying (or not!) this month?
Trippy AF...a total mind bender. I love a time distortion book and this was my 2nd one by Blake Crouch. I honestly feel like I lost track of time (and myself!) reading this book. I love exploring the idea of multiple selves but this dystopian fantasy really rocked me. I liked it for sure...now I just need a break from this genre.
Wow, I am floored by this human (who will hopefully be our next president). She is compassionate and fierce. Dedicated to the truth that America is the home of many people, not just the rich white men currently in power. I loved hearing about her upbringing, initiatives and laws she worked on in California. It gives me hope for the election next month.
I've been a big fan of Yun Pueblo's (his pen name) content on IG so to listen to his book while traveling in Albania was really cool. As I was in a van or bus for up to 4 hours, watching the landscape roll by, I was struck by the human experience we are all having. How healing myself with empathy is what's needed to heal the world. When each of us overcome our own adversity, we can become lighter. And by being lighter we can help others. This book also reignited my meditation practice, which was lacking over the summer. Committing to sitting in silence each day has already helped me to feel lighter.

I needed this book and the timing was divine (as always) as I read it after "Lighter" so I was in a self-healing mindset. I'm grateful that my therapist Lori recommended it to me. Because, yes, I am the dork that asks their mental health professional for homework. The Internal Family System is a therapeutic modality that makes a lot of sense for what I'm processing right now.
